Even though our summer reading challenge recently ended, reading is fun all-year-round. Join us starting September 4th for our Get Carried Away with Reading fall challenge!
By joining this challenge, you will officially become a Library Explorer. Do not take this responsibility lightly. Library Explorers are the coolest people you will ever meet! (Trust me, we are also Library Explorers, so we would know.) As fellow Library Explorers, we would like to invite you to embark on an adventure with us. Keep reading to learn the details…
Anyone of any age can be a Library Explorer and participate in our fall reading challenge, which goes from September 4 to November 13, 2022.
Well, for one, because reading is awesome!
We are also putting our Library Explorers to the test and challenging YOU to reach a personal goal of 1,500 reading minutes this fall. How can you achieve this? By:
- Reading 22 minutes/a day for ten weeks
- Reading 30 minutes for five days a week for ten weeks
- Reading 1,500 minutes in one sitting (We do not recommend this option. It would likely cause some very serious eye strain.)
We are also challenging the whole community to read a collective 500,000 (half a million) minutes this fall! Every 10,000 minutes that the community reads will add another balloon to our goal board. Help the library lift and “get carried away” by reading! Even if you hit your personal 1,500 minutes, keep going to contribute to the community tally.
Simply log the minutes you spend reading with Beanstack and earn badges for every 150 minutes you read. Visit https://reedlibrary.beanstack.com or use the Beanstack app on your mobile device.
What counts towards your minutes spent reading?
- Reading with children
- Reading at/for school
- Listening to a book
- Reading or browsing a magazine or newspaper
- Reading the back of a cereal box (This one will require a lot of cereal. Hope you’re coocoo for Cocoa Puffs.)
If you’d like to read more about signing up for Beanstack, you can view our blog post about it here.
Yup, that’s all. We have the utmost confidence in you, dear Library Explorers. You are ready for this.
Now go get carried away with reading!
