The Bookworm Reading Challenge

Do you consider yourself a bookworm? Join the Bookworm Reading Challenge starting this January 9! Preregister now and earn your very own Bookworm pin just for signing up.

How does the Bookworm Reading Challenge work?

The Bookworm Reading Challenge begins January 9 goes until April 28, 2022.

There are two variations of the Bookworm Challenge depending on your age: the Youth challenge is for readers ages 0-17 and the Adult challenge is for readers ages 18+.

Similar to our previous challenges, readers will log reading minutes and complete activities in order to earn prizes. Each month, new activities will become available for you to choose from.

What counts towards time spent reading?

  • Perusing magazines
  • Listening to audiobooks
  • Reading ebooks
  • Reading comics
  • Reading billboards on your drive to work
  • Assigned reading for school
  • Reading with your child
  • Reading the subtitles on a movie
  • Literally any reading!

As you reach certain minute milestones, you will earn prizes that you can redeem by visiting either the Youth Services desk or the Adult Services desk (depending on your age) at the library.

To “complete” the reading challenge, youth will have to read 40 hours and adults will have to read 100 hours, as well as complete a certain amount of activities. However, you will be greatly rewarded for your efforts with our special completion prizes!
