Work has started in earnest and as of late today, our back entrance is closed. Tomorrow, the construction crew will put up some safety fence, designed to keep the work inside and to keep you safely outside the work zone.
Safety First
The library will stay open during this construction project but we all need to pay extra attention to construction signs, cones, and boundaries. The signs and boundaries are there to keep you safe but still give you access to the library. It’s a juggling act to keep the library open while it’s also an active construction zone.
As work continues, depending on what is being done on a particular day, we may ask you to use the front door instead of the back. Or vice versa, use the back instead of the front. For a few days, we’re not sure when yet, we’ll have to close the drive thru while the crew is pouring concrete. We will keep you posted.
Change isn’t usually comfortable
Let’s be honest. The changes don’t always feel positive. They can also be noisy and dirty and confusing for all of us. We’re asking you to hang in there with us, keep your eyes on the end result, and stay flexible. Our project is short; it’s scheduled to be done in June. And June is really not too far away.
Thanks for already being flexible about parking. We appreciate all of you who are parking in the designated areas. For those who visited today, thanks for being flexible about some noise and dirt. We’ll do our best to keep it all outside.
It’s already looking good
Even if you missed the action yesterday and today, you can already see positive results. Overgrown plantings that obscured the historic end of our building, the 1924 portion, have been removed. The revelation shows a handsome building, still standing strong. Have you driven by to see the changes?
Once it’s done, we’ll be able to sit back and enjoy the rest of summer with you in our sparkly new space. Until that happens, we will be flexing day-to-day operations around the project. Thank you – all of you – for being flexible right alongside us.

Would be nice to see pictures of the library’s historic outside with the overgrown plantings gone. And daily pix of the progress of the construction.
