Halloween is over and the gloves are off—the holidays are coming! Get your candy-decorating skills sharpened because it’s time for our annual #GingerbreadMadness contest. Bragging rights and prizes will be awarded for the most creative gingerbread in four categories.

Last year, we had well over 100 entries in our gingerbread extravaganza and they were magnificent! It would be hard to top last year (take a look here), but we hope you’re ready and willing to try. You can enter the contest with one of our free pre-baked gingerbread house kits (while they last) or you can bake/buy/make your own. The contest is sponsored by Vista Veranda and the library. We’re super excited that this year’s house kits were baked by Ravenna’s own Sunshine Cupcakes Etc.

Prizes will be awarded for the best child/family entry, tween/teen (13 to 18 years), and adult (19+ years) entry. How you decorate your creation is entirely up to your imagination. We also have a special prize category for those bakers ambitious enough to reproduce a downtown Ravenna landmark in gingerbread. Our town is filled with historic, interesting buildings and landmarks, plenty to spark creative bakers.

All gingerbread creations need to be at Reed Memorial Library no later than end of day, Saturday, November 22nd. Voting begins Tuesday, November 25 and continues through Sunday, December 7th. Winners will be announced on Monday, December 8th and you can view all of the gingerbread creations at Reed Memorial Library through January 1, 2026.
