This past Friday, we kicked off summer reading with ReedFest! Check out this blog post to see our pictures from ReedFest and get the details on our summer reading challenge.
ReedFest, held in conjunction with Ravenna Parks & Recreation’s Summer Celebration, is our annual beginning-of-summer event to ring in summer reading.
If you haven’t signed up for our summer reading challenge, read all about it on our website and use Beanstack to register. The challenge runs from June 5 to July 30 and is for ALL ages. Log the minutes you spend reading and earn points to use on prizes! One hour of reading equals 10 points, and you can “spend” your points however you like on prizes inside the library (see our prize menu on our website for your options). For even more prizes, complete activity prompts and earn tickets you can enter to win one of our seven grand prizes, which will be drawn at the end of the challenge on July 31.
Even though it was a scorcher on Friday, we had a blast! Tables were set up inside Tower Lodge for summer reading challenge registration and library card sign-ups.
There were two craft stations: one for crafting pony bead key chains, and the other for painting cardboard circles, which will be strung together like a quilt and displayed inside the library in the coming weeks!
We also had yard games like corn hole, giant Jenga, and tic tac toe, and bubble guns, which were a hit. A story trail for the book Change Sings by Amanda Gorman was set up, and every family that walked the story with Miss Hayley took home a copy of the book.
The first one hundred people received free tickets for the Kona ice truck, and Southern Comfort food truck was also available at the event.
Here are some pictures from the event. You can also view our ReedFest 2023 album on Facebook.
