2024: A Bookworm’s Journey

This year, you get to pace yourself. We’ve restructured our smaller, sometimes fast ‘n furious library challenges into one, yearlong challenge: The 2024 Bookworm Challenge. This year, we’ll take a more leisurely tour through the various genres, or types, of books.

To reach bookworm status, you need to read 80 hours and complete at least nine of the 12 monthly badges – and you have an entire year to do it. No mad dash to get reading and activities done but instead an entire year stretching out in front of you, with opportunity to read at a more comfortable pace. At year’s end, when you complete the goal, you’ll earn an enamel pin and canvas bag designed to show off your newly-minted Bookworm status.

But first, you need to join the challenge (sign up in Beanstack). Once you do, you’ll immediately unlock a reward!🏆 Your prize is a passport for you to record your 2024 reading journey and you earn it just by signing up. The passport is your guide and each month is represented. Keep your passport handy – write down what you’ve read, make some notes or sketches related to what you’re reading; use the passport in your own style. Just remember to bring it back in when you earn your badges and we’ll give it an official passport stamp.

Each month in 2024 is assigned a to a specific genre, or type, of book. In order to earn that month’s badge, choose and complete three of the five activities. We’ve made it pretty easy to do, even if you don’t like a particular genre. Let’s say you just can’t stand romance.  Spoiler alert: February’s genre is romance. BUT, the activities include options like “read a paperback book” and “Read a book with the word ‘love’ in the title.” You can definitely earn February’s badge without actually reading a romance. See how we’ve given you some wiggle room? You’re welcome!

Tracking your time and activities is super easy since it’s all done in the Beanstack app. If you get behind, miss a month or join late, you can always go back and complete previous badges to catch up. We’re all in it for the long haul this year; to read and explore all types of books at a pace for every reader.  Sign up and join us on our journey. Happy reading, bookworms!
