Midnight Madness

Every year on the day after Thanksgiving, downtown Ravenna celebrates Midnight Madness. This year, the library participated in this classic community event for the first time, and it was indeed a spectacular night for all.

The star of the evening, of course, was Santa and his reindeer! While Santa visited the library to read stories and visit with children, his reindeer were stationed out on the front lawn.

We also had free hot chocolate to pass out, although we quickly ran out because of the unexpectedly huge turnout we received. Thank you to everyone who attended this special evening; our expectations were truly exceeded.

If you missed Midnight Madness at the library this year, fear not: we will be participating in Midnight Madness next year, too! We are already planning for how we can go bigger and better for next year. Our Director Amy says, “Reed Memorial Library enjoyed hosting patrons during its Midnight Madness event.  It was a magical evening for the community and staff, and we cannot wait for Santa and his reindeer to return in 2023!”

Gingerbread Madness

Gingerbread houses are taking over the town and creating joy for all!

This year, we partnered with Vista Veranda to launch a Gingerbread Madness display that can be viewed all throughout downtown Ravenna. Community members worked diligently to craft beautiful and wondrous gingerbread houses, which are now displayed in several downtown shop fronts.

We have a lovely array of gingerbread houses at the library for which patrons have been expressing their love, but we’re not the only people who have caught a case of the ‘gingerbread madness.’

You can also view gingerbread houses at these local Ravenna stores: Popped, Sunshine Cupcakes Etc, Lori Sams – American Family Insurance Agency, Susie K’s Cafe, Pioneer Insurance Group, Bean and the Baker, Accessible By Design, Ravenna Nutrition, Ravenna Area Chamber of Commerce, 2illxcuts, Your Toy Connection, Lavigna’s de’ Spa & Salon, Andrei’s Jewelers.

These gingerbread houses will remain up throughout the holidays, so make sure to grab some coffee or a bite to eat and check them all out downtown!
